LIAR LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!

Don’t you just love these commercials that come on displaying magic markers that suddenly double their coloring abilities; side walk chalk that becomes 3-d; little beads that you pinch out onto plastic, from a dropper, and you let them melt; letting the children explore their artistic abilities, making different shapes and pictures; this stuff called ‘moon sand’- it’s just like play-doh, only messier because it’s sand. It even comes with it’s own little plastic play station that conveniently folds up and becomes a carrying case so the kids can carry it into another part of the house and make yet another mess! All these wonderful little ads that are so appealing to kids, but make moms want to pull their hair out because all of them need supervision… close supervision! My kids always start asking, “can we get that? Can we get that?” I have learned to say, “oh, that looks fun doesn’t it?” still waiting for the commercial to end. Then, right before it’s over, the spokesman tells the price, and instructions on how to call and order. Then, comes the part I have learned to wait for….. making sure the kids are still listening and watching- the spokesperson quickly states “must be 18 years of age or older to order”. Well, the genious I am , I twist it just a bit and tell them, “no, sorry. We can’t get that. The commercial just said you have to be 18! We’ll have to wait!”
